Is the Royal Guard Uniform worth it in totk? ›

Updated August 24th, 2023: The Royal Guard Uniform in TOTK can be rather beneficial in the early game for players who are looking for a way to boost their overall defense. That said, finding the Royal Guard Armor in Tears of the Kingdom requires players to venture into the ominous Hyrule Castle.

The Royal Guard Set is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack. It's a set of Armor originally worn by members of the Royal Guard that can be found as part of the "EX Royal Guard Rumors" Side Quest. It consists of the Royal Guard Cap, the Royal Guard Uniform and the Royal Guard Boots.

Royal Guard's Swords are Weapons that are part of the Royal Guard's Series. They are replicas of the Master Sword made with Sheikah Ancient Technology to oppose the Great Calamity, but they were unsuccessful due to their low durability.

This armor set includes a bonus effect of decreasing the stamina used by charged attacks. The Royal Guard Set can not be dyed at the Hateno Dye Shop, but can be upgraded at the Great Fairy Fountains.

The Royal Guard Armor has no base effects, but when the full set is equipped and upgraded to at least two stars, you'll get a Charge Attack Stamina Up set bonus, lowering the stamina requirement for a charge attack.

When worn, the Armor provides one level of Stealth Up. The Phantom Ganon Armor cannot be enhanced by a Great Fairy nor can it be Dyed at the Kochi Dye Shop. The Phantom Ganon Armor, alongside the Phantom Ganon Skull and Phantom Ganon Greaves, compose the Phantom Ganon Set.

The armor can be upgraded at a Great Fairy Fountain up to four times. Each time you upgrade a piece of Royal Guard Armor, it will increase its defense stat and make the piece or pieces stronger. You need Gleeok Guts for the last Royal Guard Armor upgrades.

The armor is in possession of Ensha of the Royal Remains, an NPC that "stands guard" outside the small Library where Gideon Ofnir makes his home in Roundtable Hold. It is possible to get the armor from the unspeaking NPC as long as players have a certain item in their possession.

The Master Sword remains the best weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, even if it does have its flaws. The sword has a base strength of 30 but can go up to 60 in certain areas and around specific enemies. Players can improve the Master Sword's durability even further in the DLC.

Their weapons weren't going to be used for an extended period of time. So the Sheikah who made those weapons decided to go for full on damage instead of durability, so that they would be strong enough to wreck any scrub that rolls into the throne room, but would break after an extended period of battle.

The Royal Guard Uniform has a base defense of 4, and the Charged Attack Stamina Up effect, which helps Link deliver a charged attack with decreased stamina consumption.

It's supposedly one of the best shields in the game to block attacks, but at the same time it has low durability so it ends breaking soon.
