| CableTool to JimThePCGuy Premium Member 2004-Nov-17 4:32 pm Re: [COMCAST] Dual Tuner DVR For Oak Park ILYou can actually just say its not working right, ask for a service call. When the tech arrives just say it turns off on its own or some mysterious unprovable thing ( happens all the time... ) and when the tech swaps it he will be forced to swpa with a dual. We dont have any single tuners in stock. But if this is in the Chicago Area our Dual Tuner stock is in jeopardy every day. There is a decent number of upgrades that go down daily due to our inconsistant supply. Its all 4th quarter budget crap. The Tuners are flying off the shelf but we didnt budget enough revenue to keep up with the stock demand. We cant free up enough revenue to keep us in a healthy supply of DVRs. |

One more question for comcastguy, whats with this shortage of Gateways all of the sudden in all Prins??? Incidentaly, your VOD should be downloading now from what Im hearing in the field. If your box is acting funny, let it do its thing otherwise the download will start over. Gateways, DVRs and now HDboxes are in short supply. I think I explained this in another thread. We are in 4th quarter and only have a certain budget for equipment. The Home Networking and DVR's are taking off MUCH BETTER then projections. Every time we run low or out of stock we need signatures from Numerous VP's to order new stock. They are running it as LEAN as possible for our 4th quarter numbers. |

| JimThePCGuy MVM 2004-Nov-19 6:14 am You'd think Comcast would send out one of those "message" notices that VOD was coming. |

| CableTool Premium Member 2004-Nov-19 10:29 am Yeah they had sent out VOD and the boxes were downloading. It took anywhere from 20-40mins. It was a motorola issue. Our controller ( the device that sends all these activation and downloads to the thousands of boxes ) should process about a hit a second. It was backed up over 2000 hits. In my understanding the boxes got the hit to start downloading but since the controller was so backed up it just took all night. I know a lot of people here that went home had their VOD. Hopefully you found the same. |

| adamsmj to CableTool Member 2004-Nov-19 11:28 am Hey ComcastGuy, A tech came out yesterday to replace my single tuner with the dual tuner. I asked if I needed a new remote. He said my existing one would work with it. I'm guessing that I won't have the "Swap" functionality in the old remote. Is that correct? (Unfortunately, I'm not home to test it out). Would they have to send yet another tech to bring me a new remote?!?!?! Is another way to switch between tuners in the meantime? |
· actions · 2004-Nov-19 11:28 am · | |
| CableTool Premium Member 2004-Nov-19 11:34 am No, your current one will not work. You will need to reprogram one of the buttoms to perform the swap. How to map your buttons for swap and 30 sec skip. 1) Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode. Found this in the dallas thread... Ill poke around here to verify it. In Chicago we STILL do not have a new supply of Dual tuner remotes.. |

| JimThePCGuy to adamsmj MVM 2004-Nov-19 11:53 am Upsampling to 1080i ..... You need to get into the setup menu of the converter. Power off the box This will bring up a text screen where you can use the cursor keys to navigage. You can control stuff like: I am Dyslexic of Borg. Fusistance is retile. Your ass will be laminated. |

| Warzau to JSSAUCE Premium Member 2004-Nov-19 3:36 pm Has anyone encountered this prob. I am coping some music videos that I had recorded on the DVR to my Pany HD. I have it as I think it is called series record? Anyway I made sure to have the config to keep it till I deleted it. I still have more than enough room BUT it so far has deleted the first couple of shows I recorded. Anyone seen this? |

adamsmj | adamsmj to CableTool Member 2004-Nov-19 5:04 pm Thanks for your help, Comcastguy! I am still having problems though. I used the procedure that you posted. The 30 second skip seems to work now, but the TV/VCR button does not do anything. I started a recording, then tried to use the TV/VCR button. Nothing happened and I couldn't change the channel without the warning box coming up asking me whether I want to cancel the recording. Do I need a different code for "swap". |

| BJMoose to nitros22 Anon 2004-Nov-26 8:03 am Nitros22, this happened to me yesterday and I thought it was something I did with the remote. I've have my dct6412 since last Saturday and have noticed a few glitches like this 'mute' thing. Occasionally, HD channels seem to freeze up (could be the signal) and once, I think the box just powered off (although not absolutely sure about that). I could have accidentally hit the power button. I'd appreciate it if you would post that remote code to shut off the mute if it happens again. Thanks, BJ |

| JimThePCGuy MVM 2004-Nov-26 8:35 am Am I correct in assuming that all those with the "mute" problem are controlling the sound level via the DVR? I do see occasional "pauses" in iGuide. Usually when I request something be recorded. The DVR becomes unresponsive to commands for some number of seconds but usually no more than maybe ten or so then it acts normally. I suspect it gets busy with something and isn't the best at multitasking when it does. |

nitros22 | nitros22 Member 2004-Nov-26 2:35 pm NO NO NO.. I control the Volume through the tv.. But the box still mutes it self. Internally So i have to reprogram the remote to control the volume on the box its self to get it to un mute then change the remote back to control the volume through the tv.. See i am noticing a pattern here SCHJA.. This is only happening to me when i power my box off and it powers its self back on to record stuff. Now BjMoose (read these steps in its entirety before actually doing them on the remote) Now the remote code to get this mute problem resolved.. 1. Press the cable mode button. Once pressed hold down the setup button until the cable mode button blinks twice. 2. Enter code 993 then push the volume down (-) once the cable mode button will blink again. now you can control the volume on the DCT it self.. Now this is all comcast told me i had to figure the rest out on my own.. now its time to program the remote to control the volume on the tv. 3. Follow Step number 1 again. 4. Enter code 993 the press the tv mode button. The tv mode button will blink 2 times and there you have it you should be able control the volume on the tv.. Now i warn don't push any other than the buttons i said or you will screw the remote up its some reprocutions i don't want to get into that i had to fix by getting a new remote. i think this is the longest post i have ever made.. hehe any questions hit me up.. |

| BJMoose Anon 2004-Nov-26 8:55 pm Nitros22, You are exactly right. I did start watching something else after the box turned itself on to record something. Now it makes sense as to why it turned itself off. As for the mute thing, I discovered on the AVS forum that I could program one of the unused buttons on my remote to control that. Works like a charm. Also found out how to add a button for a 30 second skip which also works well. Thanks for your help and quick response. Peace, BJ |
