The next month, there was a groundbreaking for the facility near the entrance to the Eastside Industrial Park. In March 1990, production began in cold draw and on cutting and chamfering equipment and processes. A year later, a high frequency welding mill was added, and the cutting and chamfering processes and capacity were expanded. What they had to say ... on Vital Farms choosing Seymour to expand its supply chain with a second world-class egg washing and packing facility. The 72-acre future home of Egg Central Station Seymour will build upon key successes from the brand’s first facility in Springfield, Missouri. The new facility will enable Vital Farms to continue growing its pasture-raised egg business, create 150-plus jobs for the Seymour community in its first phase and is expected to help generate more than $350 million in additional revenue for the brand as it pushes to a 2027 target of $1 billion in company revenues.President and CEO Russell Diez-Canseco said Vital Farms is the second biggest egg brand in America, has partners and consumers all over the country and has products in 24,000 stores. "We talk a lot about stakeholders, and this is a company that was founded with the idea that we should be purpose-led and that we should focus on long-term benefits of stakeholders and not just shareholders," he said. The biggest distinction is it's not transactional, he said. "When we go talk to new prospective customers, hire someone and enter new community, it's not about 'What can we get from this person?' 'What can we get from this place?' It's about 'How can we kind of grow the pie together to help create better outcomes for all of us?'" he said. That shows up in the company's growth."We're here because we are growing so darn fast that we need even more capacity to pack eggs," Diez-Canseco said of expanding to Seymour. "We'll be well over $500 million in revenue this year. I believe we will be well over $1 billion in revenue in 2027. We actually need a building here in Seymour to open in 2026 or else we're capped. It's a scary problem to have. It's an exciting problem to have."After a multistate search, company officials found Seymour to be the best fit for their second location. Vital Farms bought enough land in Seymour to expand over time as the company did in Springfield. The new site will have the capacity to support 165 farms. "I'm excited about this place," Diez-Canseco said. "I've got a bunch of great people who work every day to get to a little bit of a better place based on what's going on for us in the world, and that's all I can ask for is transparency and honesty and a hard day's work, so I think this is a great place."
