things down a bit. 45 minutes to get from tracy to dublin. 16 minutes to get from san rafael to san francisco. and then that drive from antioch to concord, that will take you 14 minutes. >> reggie, a big announcement from the mayor of oakland revealing a deal has finally been reached to sell the city's share of the oakland coliseum site. she says the money is now going to help avoid cuts to public safety. abc7 news reporter gloria rodriguez is here with the details. gloria, the mayor is calling this a massive win for oakland. the police union. not so sure. >> that's right. reggie had the deal gone through or not gone through? there was talk about the loss of public safety jobs. mayor shengtao released a statement saying that she addressed police and fire stations staying open, saying this is not just a short term solution, but the oakland police officers association is skeptical and sent this statement overnight. the opoa is doubtful. the sale of the oakland coliseum will solve the mayors and city councils epic mismanagement. we are deeply concerned for the safety of residents, businesses and our

police officers. mayor tao announcing that oakland's half of the coliseum site has been sold in a deal between the city and the african american sports and entertainment group. the sale is worth at least $105 million. the oakland athletics owned the other half of the site, and there are still questions about when and if that 50% will be sold to mayor tao released a pre-produced video clip in reaction to the sale, but didn't take questions from reporters. >> i'm really excited and i just want to thank everybody who worked day and night to ensure that this deal has gone through. >> this deal has taken forever just to get to this point. now we have half of that land sold. the other half, i'm told, should be sold by john fisher and the a's no later than the end of this week. >> that's abc seven sports director larry beil. in a statement, mayor tao says it's a deal that will lead to a multibillion dollar investment in east oakland, which will

cal fire crew. they are currently assisting in the firefight. more than 5300 personnel are coordinating this response. wow. well, the park fire has burned more than 373,000 acres. containment is now up to 14%, but sadly, the destruction is growing. cal fire now says the fire has destroyed 165 buildings. the community of cohasset has been hit. the hardest. ron ward's home survived as the fire moved in. he and his son stayed and managed to save it. you've got a one of the largest fires now in in our history coming our way. >> so. and we knew it was going to be bad. we just didn't know how bad it was going to be. >> oh, what did his family just got dropped by their insurance a month back. so losing their home would have wiped out their life savings. he says it's devastating to talk with so many friends who are facing such loss. >> we're very blessed and we're

glad that we were able to save our property. it just it's tough. there's a lot of those phone calls, a lot of people who have lost their homes, they haven't even been able to get back to look at their homes. >> the man accused of starting the fire appeared in court yesterday for the first time. ronnie dean stout. the second is facing a felony arson charge. the butte county district attorney says witnesses saw stout's car get stuck at the top of a hill and heard him revving the engine and prosecutors believe that's what sparked the fire. when stout saw the flames, they say he pushed the car down a hill instead of calling for help, the d.a. says. stout claims it was an accident. he's being held without bail and is due back in court on thursday. you can keep track of the fires that are burning across the state with our abc seven california wildfire tracker. it'll give you a full picture of the fires and the smoke across the state. it's up for you right now on the front page of abc

yesterday morning. the president wants 18 year term limits for justices, with one justice rotating off the bench every two years. mr. biden is also calling for a supreme court binding code of conduct. experts say the president is trying to address the risk that lifetime appointments create a political imbalance on the high court. >> lifetime appointments can sway the court dramatically in one direction or another. president trump, for example, had three appointments and totally changed the voting behavior of the current supreme court. this has happened sometimes in the past, but there are some presidents who've never had an appointment during their four year term. >> it is unlikely the current congress would approve any of these reforms by the end of president biden's term, but it's expected to at least become a topic of conversation among the current candidates. >> san francisco has a new idea to tackle the drug crisis. some welfare recipients could get up to $100 a week if they can prove they are drug free. supervisor matt dorsey is behind the plan

there's certainly drizzle across the city. along the coast. you may need those windshield wipers for a few minutes as you go about your morning. we'll break down that fog later on this morning for afternoon sunshine, but very pleasant temperatures later today. right now, pretty s we. so just like yesterday. pleasant when we talk about inland temperatures. no excessive heat today we will find lots of sunshine, daytime highs going into the low and mid 80s around the bay shoreline. it's very foggy this morning, even around 10 a.m. we're still pretty overcast. i think closer to 11 a.m. we see that sunshine prevail and then in the afternoon it's a partly cloudy sky and those temperatures going into the mid 70s along the coast

all day today it's cloudy. lots of fog this morning, low visibility, some drizzle, partly sunny this afternoon and temperatures going into the low and mid 60s. that's a look at the forecast. let's check in with amanda. >> yeah we're going to take a live look at the east shore freeway. you can see some of that fog already causing quite the glare. those people with the headlights that you're seeing, they are traveling westbound. of course, this is a live look from emeryville. and we are going to get related drive times highway four to the maze. that's going to take you 22 minutes, a 13 minute drive from emeryville into the city, and then a nine minute drive from san francisco to. our overall map showing a pretty clear commute this tuesday morning here at 531 minus. that typical slowdown through the altamont pass. now, i'm also tracking a crash in napa valley involving a police pickup truck and a pedestrian. it happened just after seven last night at the intersection of berry and washington streets in calistoga. officers say the patrol vehicle hit a 22 year old woman who was crossing the

street. she was taken to the hospital to be treated for what police are calling major head injuries. it's unclear if she was walking in the crosswalk, but officers are also investigating if the patrol car had its sirens or lights on, no one else was hurt and the road has since reopened. no word yet on any disciplinary action against the officer driving that police pickup truck. back to you, reggie. amanda. >> thank you. in oakland, more than a dozen small businesses are dealing with the aftermath of a break-in. thieves ransacked 16 businesses in one office building over the weekend. this was near collins drive in hegenberger road. one of the business owners thinks thieves cut through two fences and broke in through an exit door. on the second story, oakland police said they believe at least three people were involved and no one has been arrested. >> i've never seen it. they havo healthy fear and respect for the law. that's scary. >> this is the same area that

$105 million, abc7 news reporter gloria rodriguez is here with the details. gloria mayor shang tao is calling the deal an investment in east oakland. >> that's right, reggie, oakland mayor shang tao says the deal will lead to a multibillion dollar investment in east oakland, which will bring business opportunities, affordable housing tax revenue and community benefits for decades to come. mayor tao, announcing oakland's half of the coliseum site has been sold in a deal between the city and the african american sports and entertainment group. the sale is worth at least $105 million. the oakland athletics owned the other half of the site, and there are still questions about when and if that 50% will be sold to abc. seven sources say the other half of the site should be sold by john fisher and the a's no later than the end of this week, mayor tao released a pre-produced video clip in reaction to the sale, but didn't talk to reporters directly or answer questions. >> i'm really excited and i just want to thank everybody who
